Mallorca: A True Mediterranean Heaven

Back in the spring, I was having some serious vacation withdrawals knowing that after our May trip to Ireland, that was IT for the indefinite future. I spent WEEKS researching new places for us to visit, from Amsterdam to London, to Germany and Hawaii--I knew I needed another getaway to look forward to. In comes Mallorca...

This island sits off of the eastern coast of Spain in what are known as the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca & Ibiza). The landscape is exquisite and the weather is nothing but sun, heat, sun and some more heat. We arrived to the island after an overnight flight to Madrid and a quick, 1 hour flight to the capital city of Palma. From there, we got right into an air conditioned car and headed north to the jewel known as Can Simoneta.

Can Simoneta is a boutique hotel that sits in the northeast corner of Mallorca. It only has about 20 rooms, which are split between a main house and a beach house--we opted for the beach house. The view from the hotel is unlike anything I've ever seen before and the service was A+++. To be honest, I could have stayed here for five full days and been completely happy. but of course, I had to see the island.

One afternoon, we decided to hire Paco, a local man who barely spoke English--my high school and college Spanish really came in handy. He spent the entire afternoon with us, driving around the island, visiting beautiful villages on the western side of the island, bought us local treats and was overall just good company. With him, we got to see a lot that we otherwise never would have discovered. We traveled to the town of Valldemossa, which is quintessential European village living. Before that we spent time walking around the medieval town of Deia, which legitimately looks like something out of Game of Thrones. However, before all of that, we spent some time eating churros on the quaint sidewalks of Soller.

Overall, this place is exquisite and I would recommend it to my clients (hands down) for any type of trip. It's romantic, but lively. It's peaceful, but exciting. It has everything you'd want.
